## What is 16 10 02 used for?

Watery liquid waste going off site for treatment, when no code fits in the chapters for where the waste came from, or in chapters 13 to 15. WM3 gives waste from portable toilets and liquor from composting as examples: neither has a code of its own elsewhere in the list.

## Is 16 10 02 hazardous?

Not once an assessment shows it isn’t. First decide whether the waste is a liquid or a concentrate, then assess it for hazardous substances:

## When shouldn’t you use 16 10 02?

Whenever a code fits in the chapter for where the waste came from, or in chapters 13 to 15. For example:

- **Interceptor water**: Oily water from an oil/water separator is 13 05 07*.
- **Chemical washings**: Watery washing liquids from organic chemical processes take chapter 07 codes, which are always hazardous.
