    Waste treatment in soil

Alberta management-operation component.

Land treatment, where soil bacteria break down liquid or sludgy waste spread on or worked into the soil.

Where does Alberta D2 go on the Uniform Waste Code record?

In the management-code component. Alberta D2 describes what is done with the waste, not what the waste is or whether it is hazardous. It comes last in the Uniform Waste Code, after the waste category, transport product identification number and transport class. D operations are for disposal or treatment and R operations are for recovery or recycling.

The code must match what the receiving facility will actually do. Alberta’s guide shows how the codes are built but is not a current register of approved facilities. If the shipment needs an Alberta hazardous waste manifest, the consignor fills in the waste details and the receiver records receipt and handling in Part C. The code doesn't decide whether a manifest is needed.

What does Alberta D2 cover?

Treating waste in soil, for example by biodegrading liquid or sludge residues there. This code describes the step, not a material or contaminant. It is one part of Alberta’s industrial identification system, and the same waste category takes a different management code when the actual treatment, disposal or recovery changes.

When do I use Alberta D2?

CodeWhen it fits
