How do Canadian codes for paint and paint sludge differ?
Ontario's paint class takes waste from using paints, pigments and coatings. In Quebec, B09 takes hazardous oil-based paint, toxic latex paint, and sludge and residues from making or using paint and related products. Paint filters use B14. A solvent collected on its own goes in the solvent class that matches its make-up, which is group C in Quebec.
How should paint and paint sludge be described for collection in Canada?
The word latex doesn't make a paint toxic, and the word paint doesn't give its flash point. Record what is actually in it and assess its hazard characteristics.
