Nor are dangerous goods returned to their manufacturer for reprocessing, repackaging or resale. What is special waste? A special-waste permit is required to generate, dispose of, collect, transport or handle special waste over a 30-day period, or to store on site 20 L or more of waste oil, 5 L or more of other liquid special waste, 5 kg or more of one or more solid special wastes, or 5 kg or 5 L or more of mixed solid and liquid special waste. Transport at or above the applicable minimum also requires a Waste Manifest. These are permit and manifest thresholds. They don’t prove that a smaller amount is non-hazardous. Bound-asbestos work must still follow occupational health and safety requirements. Permit exemptions
