Basel List B codes
Cleaned petroleum-coke or bitumen anode ends
Use B2090 for cleaned petroleum-coke or bitumen anode ends as a Basel List B waste without an Annex III hazard.
Is Basel B2090 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. Basel B2090 is on Basel List B, so material that matches it is normally outside the Convention's hazardous definition. That changes if Annex I constituents give it an Annex III hazardous characteristic. SOR/2021-25, including its exclusions, decides Canadian federal control.
On a federally regulated international shipment, the applicant enters the waste classification in the waste line of the federal notification in CNMTS. The movement rules and exclusions still apply.
What does Basel B2090 cover?
Covers discarded petroleum-coke or bitumen anode ends from the steel or aluminum industries, cleaned to normal industry specifications. Material from chlor-alkali electrolysis or other metallurgical operations is excluded.

List B is conditional. It isn't an exemption label. If the material has an Annex III hazardous characteristic, or meets another Canadian or foreign hazardous-waste definition, classify the actual hazard and follow the movement rules that control.
