Use E01 for otherwise-unlisted sludge from surface treatment or coating.
Is Quebec E01 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. E01 is a Quebec category for residual hazardous materials. The material must meet the regulatory definition first, and still fit after the exclusions and quantity rules.
Record E01 as the Quebec MDR category. If the material is dangerous goods in transport, show the MDR code apart from the TDG shipping description. The category doesn't replace the UN number, shipping name, class or packing group.
A regulated movement between provinces, or an import, export or transit, may also need the federal movement document. Each document has its own scope, so the Quebec category alone doesn't settle the paperwork.
What does Quebec E01 cover?
This Schedule 4 category is for sludge from surface treatment or coating that no other code lists. It belongs to Quebec's Inorganic solids and sludge group.

Decide between categories by the material's composition, physical form, concentration and source. Similar labels aren't interchangeable. Transport classification is a separate decision, even when the Quebec category is clear.
