    Endothall — an aquatic herbicide

P-list unused product.

Acute hazardous P-listed waste for unused endothall, a toxic aquatic herbicide for water weeds. Only unused product takes P088.

Is P088 hazardous waste?

Yes, when the listing applies. P088 is for unused endothall that is thrown away, including off-specification product and qualifying residues. It is acute hazardous waste, so the stricter acute quantities apply even for a small amount.

Put P088 in Item 13 of a required hazardous waste manifest. The VSQG exemptions and empty-container rules and pharmaceutical containers have their own limits.

What does P088 cover?

It covers unused endothall thrown away pure, at technical grade, or in a formulation where it is the only active ingredient. It also takes in off-specification batches, residues left in nonempty containers and cleanup residues from spills of these products. Inactive ingredients don't stop it counting as the only active ingredient.

Is endothall waste P088 or another code?

CodeWhen it fits
P088Thrown away unused, pure or technical grade, or as the only active ingredient. Qualifying product residues count too.
Characteristic waste (D001–D043)A used chemical or a different formulation that meets a hazardous-waste characteristic. Any process listings that apply count too.

Both rows can apply at once, because a listed unused product can also have a characteristic. Having this chemical in a manufacturing waste doesn't make the waste P088. Match the waste's origin, formulation and use history. Mixing or treating listed waste generally doesn't remove the listing. That takes an exclusion, an exception or an approved delisting.
