What do the P-listed waste codes cover?

P listings cover unused commercial chemical products that are thrown away, off-specification products, and qualifying container and spill residues. The chemical must be pure, technical grade or the sole active ingredient in a formulation.

How do I decide a P-listed waste code?

Match the substance, its unused status and any concentration limit. “Sole active ingredient” doesn't mean the product holds only one ingredient. CAS means Chemical Abstracts Service registry number. A CAS number for a parent compound doesn't name every salt, so the listed substance name decides.
