P004, Aldrin — an insecticide.

    Aldrin — an insecticide

P-list unused product.

Acute hazardous P-listed waste for unused aldrin, an insecticide. Discarded commercial product is the typical source.

Is P004 hazardous waste?

Yes, when the listing applies. P004 covers discarded, unused aldrin, including off-specification product and qualifying residues. It is acute hazardous waste, so the stricter acute quantities apply even for a small amount of chemical.

On a required hazardous waste manifest, put P004 in Item 13. See VSQG exemptions and empty-container rules and pharmaceutical containers.

What does P004 cover?

Unused aldrin discarded as pure or technical grade, or in a formulation where it is the only active ingredient. This includes off-specification batches, residues in nonempty containers and spill cleanup residues. Inactive ingredients don't stop it being the only active ingredient.

Is unused aldrin always P004?

CodeWhen it fits
P004The unused chemical is thrown away as pure or technical grade, or as the only active ingredient. Qualifying product residues count too.
Characteristic waste (D001–D043)A used chemical or a different formulation shows a hazardous waste characteristic. Check any process listings that fit too.

A listed unused product can also show a characteristic, so these rows can apply together. A manufacturing waste that merely contains this chemical isn't P004. Match the waste's origin, formulation and use history. Mixing listed waste with solid waste, or treating it, generally doesn't remove the listing. Only an exclusion, exception or approved delisting does.
