    process chemicals

AER oilfield waste code.

Chemicals used in oilfield processing, such as inhibitors, defoamers & demulsifiers. An AER oilfield code.

Is Alberta PROCHEM hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. Alberta PROCHEM is process chemicals in the AER oilfield-waste system. The waste must come from upstream facilities, wells or pipelines on that route. The code doesn’t say whether it is dangerous oilfield waste.

Dangerous oilfield waste stays on the AER route within Alberta and needs no Alberta hazardous-waste manifest unless it leaves Alberta. Record the AER code in the oilfield waste information. A regulated export also needs the federal movement assessment, and a generic industrial category doesn’t replace the AER code.

What does Alberta PROCHEM cover?

Organic or inorganic process chemicals, including corrosion-inhibitor and oxygen-scavenger liquids, and non-halogenated aliphatic or aromatic solvent residue. The code names the stream for the AER system. Its actual composition and properties still decide whether it is dangerous and how it is handled.

Is process chemicals always Alberta PROCHEM?

CodeWhen it fits
PROCHEMThe waste comes from the AER upstream oilfield route and is this material.

Origin matters. Waste from an unrelated industry doesn’t become oilfield waste because its material has a similar name.
