Is Manitoba EHS98 hazardous waste?

Yes, when the Schedule B threshold is met. EHS98 is a Category 3 Provincial Waste Code. It applies when formaldehyde reaches the Schedule B total concentration of 100 mg/kg by mass.

The 3-digit provincial waste class goes in a separate field. It doesn't replace the UN Number or Provincial Waste Code.

For regulated hazardous waste, enter EHS98 in the UN Number or Provincial Waste Code field on the Manitoba movement document. Manitoba’s registration and shipment rules still apply.

What does Manitoba EHS98 cover?

EHS98 tests waste for formaldehyde. Measure the total concentration by mass. At 100 mg/kg or more, the waste is hazardous-waste Category 3 with code EHS98.
