Is Manitoba L5 hazardous waste?

Yes, when the Schedule C extract limit is met. L5 is a Category 4 Provincial Waste Code. Waste gets it when a Method 1311 extract holds barium at 100 mg/L or more.

The 3-digit provincial waste class goes in a separate field. It doesn't replace the UN Number or Provincial Waste Code.

For regulated hazardous waste, enter L5 in the UN Number or Provincial Waste Code field on the Manitoba movement document. Manitoba’s registration and shipment rules still apply.

What does Manitoba L5 cover?

This entry covers barium in a Method 1311 waste extract. A result of 100 mg/L or more meets the Schedule C limit and puts the waste in hazardous-waste Category 4.
