What are Ontario F-series hazardous industrial wastes?

F numbers list industrial waste from processes found across many industries. Ontario wants the F identifier for registration and land disposal restrictions. The Ontario waste number is still the 3-digit class plus the primary letter.

Which Ontario F001–F005 solvent code fits my blend?

F001–F005 cover the named spent solvents, and the still bottoms from recovering those solvents or qualifying mixtures of them. Work out the blend's make-up before use, as percent by volume. Only F001 has to be a degreasing use. A Schedule 1 listing gives primary characterization H. Keep the F identifier in the registry and land disposal restriction fields.

IdentifierNamed solventsQualifying blends before use
F001
Tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethylene, methylene chloride, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride and chlorinated fluorocarbons, used for degreasing.
Degreasing blends with a combined F001/F002/F004/F005 solvent content of at least 10%.
F002
Tetrachloroethylene, methylene chloride, trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, chlorobenzene, 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane, ortho-dichlorobenzene, trichlorofluoromethane, 1,1,2-trichloroethane.
Combined F002/F001/F004/F005 solvent content of at least 10%.
F003
Xylene, acetone, ethyl acetate, ethylbenzene, ethyl ether, methyl isobutyl ketone, n-butyl alcohol, cyclohexanone, methanol.
Either only the F003 solvents, or at least one F003 solvent together with a combined F001/F002/F004/F005 solvent content of at least 10%.
F004
Cresols, cresylic acid, nitrobenzene.
Combined F004/F001/F002/F005 solvent content of at least 10%.
F005
Toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon disulphide, isobutanol, pyridine, benzene, 2-ethoxyethanol, 2-nitropropane.
Combined F005/F001/F002/F004 solvent content of at least 10%.
