    Chlorophenolic wood-preserving process waste

Use F032 only when the waste stream and non-specific Schedule 12 source both match.

Wastewater, process residue & preservative drippage from wood treatment with chlorophenols. Stream and source must both match.

Is Federal F032 hazardous waste?

Yes, if the listing and federal definition apply. Federal F032 lists chlorophenolic wood-preserving process waste. The source, composition, concentration or test condition on record must match, and the exclusions in SOR/2021-25 still apply.

On a federally regulated international shipment, the applicant records the waste classification in the waste-line details of the federal notification in CNMTS. The movement rules and exclusions apply.

What does Federal F032 cover?

This is waste from a plant that uses, or once used, chlorophenolic wood preservatives. Wastewater that never touched process contaminants and K001 bottom sediment are excluded. So are spent formulations that might cross-contaminate waste at plants that don't resume or begin using chlorophenolic preservatives.

Official wording
Wastewaters, spent formulations from wood preserving processes generated at plants that currently use or have previously used chlorophenolic formulations, process residuals and preservative drippage, except wastewaters that have not come into contact with process contaminants, spent formulations that potentially cross-contaminated waste from wood preserving processes at plants that do not resume or initiate use of chlorophenolic preservatives, and bottom sediment sludge listed in Part 2 as K001.

Is chlorophenol wood-treatment waste Federal F032 or another code?

CodeWhen it fits
F032The stream came from chlorophenolic wood preserving, and isn't uncontaminated wastewater or K001 sediment.

Decide from where the material came from, how it was used, what is in it and the test results. A shared chemical or process word doesn't make 2 codes interchangeable. The full listed condition and any federal exclusion still decide.
