Arsenic or chromium wood-preserving process waste

Use F035 only when the waste stream and non-specific Schedule 12 source both match.

Wastewater, process residue & drippage from wood preserving with arsenic or chromium. Stream and source must both match.

Is Federal F035 hazardous waste?

Yes, if the listing and federal definition apply. Federal F035 lists arsenic or chromium wood-preserving process waste. The source, composition, concentration or test condition on record must match, and the exclusions in SOR/2021-25 still apply.

On a federally regulated international shipment, the applicant records the waste classification in the waste-line details of the federal notification in CNMTS. The movement rules and exclusions apply.

What does Federal F035 cover?

This is wastewater, process residue, preservative drippage and spent formulation from a wood-preserving plant that uses inorganic preservatives with arsenic or chromium. K001 bottom sediment and wastewater that never touched process contaminants are excluded.

Official wording
Wastewaters, process residuals, preservative drippage and spent formulations from wood preserving processes generated at plants that use inorganic preservatives containing arsenic or chromium, excluding bottom sediment sludge listed in Part 2 as K001 and wastewaters that have not come into contact with process contaminants.

Is arsenic or chromium wood-treatment waste Federal F035 or another code?

CodeWhen it fits
F035The stream came from wood preserving with arsenic or chromium, and isn't excluded wastewater or K001 sediment.

Decide from where the material came from, how it was used, what is in it and the test results. A shared chemical or process word doesn't make 2 codes interchangeable. The full listed condition and any federal exclusion still decide.
