E106, Chlorpyrifos.

  • Ontario leachate quality criteria

    Chlorpyrifos

Ontario TCLP limit: 9 mg/L for Chlorpyrifos.

Chlorpyrifos waste. Organophosphate insecticide used on crops, lawns & against termites. Ontario TCLP limit 9 mg/L.

Is Ontario E106 hazardous waste?

Yes, when the leachate limit is met. Ontario sets the leachate limit for chlorpyrifos at 9 mg/L in the TCLP extract. A result at 9 mg/L meets it, subject to the regulation’s exclusions. A concentration in the original bulk waste is a different measurement, so it can't be compared with this limit.

For a shipment of this waste, the generator enters the 3-digit class and primary characterization in the waste-number details of the Ontario hazardous waste manifest. This number names the constituent for the assessment but doesn't replace the class-and-letter waste number. Land-disposal treatment standards are assessed separately.

What does Ontario E106 cover?

This number is a limit on chlorpyrifos in the extract from the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure. The limit is 9 mg/L. It covers leachate toxicity, whatever the source industry, container or physical form. Ontario sets treatment requirements for land disposal separately.

Is chlorpyrifos always Ontario E106?

CodeWhen it fits
E106The TCLP extract holds 9 mg/L or more.
This constituent criterion not metThe TCLP extract is below 9 mg/L.

A result below the limit clears this constituent only. Other constituents, characteristic hazards and listed-waste rules still need assessing. Test against the classification limit first, then the land-disposal treatment standard.
