Alberta oilfield waste codes
Hydrovac material without impacts
AER oilfield waste code.
Is Alberta HYDVNI hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. Alberta HYDVNI is hydrovac material without impacts in the AER oilfield-waste system. The waste must come from upstream facilities, wells or pipelines on that route. The code doesn’t say whether it is dangerous oilfield waste.
Dangerous oilfield waste stays on the AER route within Alberta and needs no Alberta hazardous-waste manifest unless it leaves Alberta. Record the AER code in the oilfield waste information. A regulated export also needs the federal movement assessment, and a generic industrial category doesn’t replace the AER code.
What does Alberta HYDVNI cover?
Clean soil removed by hydrovac daylighting with a vacuum truck, free from product or waste residue. It can go to a waste facility under this code. To reuse it at the source location, it must be uncontaminated and suitable for the land’s next use. The code names the stream for the AER system. Its actual composition and properties still decide whether it is dangerous and how it is handled.
Is hydrovac material without impacts always Alberta HYDVNI?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| HYDVNI | The waste comes from the AER upstream oilfield route and is this material. |
Origin matters. Waste from an unrelated industry doesn’t become oilfield waste because its material has a similar name.
