Ontario group: miscellaneous organic wastes and mixed wastes.
Is Ontario 270 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. Ontario 270 names the waste stream. Whether the waste is subject waste depends on its hazardous characterization or liquid-industrial status, and on the exclusions. The waste number also needs a primary characterization letter after the 3-digit class.
For subject waste, the generator enters the class-and-letter waste number in the waste details of the Ontario hazardous waste manifest. Ontario’s exclusions and shipment rules apply.
What does Ontario 270 cover?
Other organic sludges, slurries and solids that no listed class names. Examples are bottom material from a tank that bulks mixed organic waste at a transfer site, and mixed sludge from screening or filtering at a transfer or processing site when no other table class describes it. Whether it is hazardous is a separate decision under Ontario’s waste rules.

| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 270 | The stream is organic sludge, slurry or solids that no other listed class names. |
| 146 | The mixed sludge or solids are inorganic, not organic. |
When several characterizations apply, the registration flowchart picks the primary one. The 3-digit class doesn’t replace the flowchart or the exclusions.
