Find a Texas waste code
Pick a waste or type one, and its Texas form codes show here.
When does out-of-state waste use OUTS?
Waste generated outside Texas uses OUTS as the first 4 characters of its Texas code, including approved Class 2 and 3 waste. For hazardous or Class 1 shipments that need a manifest, enter the full code in Item 13. Universal waste and household hazardous waste follow their own routes.
TCEQ’s soil example OUTS3011 means OUTS, organic-contaminated soil form 301 and Class 1. The manifest instructions show where the code goes.
When can out-of-state industrial waste be Class 2 or 3?
Nonhazardous industrial waste brought into or through Texas for processing, storage or disposal defaults to Class 1. TCEQ must approve a supported Class 2 or 3 determination before that management.
Send process knowledge and analytical evidence to the Waste Permits Division.
Which disposal request applies to out-of-state waste?
For proposed disposal at a Type I municipal landfill, RG-022 sends the classification request through Form 00152 with supporting documents.
Form 00152 requests special-waste disposal authorization and is separate from the general out-of-state classification request.
Before shipping, confirm generator-status and quantity exemptions, the manifest you need and that the destination accepts the waste.
