Which battery recycling route applies in Texas?
Spent lead-acid batteries sent for reclamation use the special route in 30 TAC 335.251.
Sending them off site for reclamation doesn't by itself need ordinary TCEQ generator registration or a hazardous manifest.
Reclaimers and storage before reclamation have separate requirements.
Other eligible hazardous batteries can use universal waste.
Household batteries go to household collection or retailer recycling.
Don't send lead-acid batteries to a municipal landfill.
What if Texas batteries follow the ordinary waste route?
RG-022 uses spent lead-acid batteries as a hazardous example.
Record the battery chemistry and the hazardous-waste codes that apply before choosing the ordinary hazardous route.
For the paperwork, see Code, class and shipment records.
