Where does Texas form code 309 go in the Texas waste code?

In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, then the 3-digit form 309, then a class character. Form 309 describes the stream in the inorganic solids category. It says nothing about hazard. The class character depends on what the stream is made of, where it came from and its properties.

For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.

The generator sets the class. Work through the exclusions, then the federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then the Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are nonhazardous industrial classes. Process knowledge or testing backs the class. Choosing a form doesn't set it.

What does Texas form code 309 cover?

Whole batteries and discarded battery parts, casings or cores, in the inorganic-solid category. Liquid electrolyte collected separately takes a liquid form chosen by its composition, not the battery form.

Is battery waste Texas form code 309?

CodeWhen it fits
309A battery, or a battery part, casing or core.
307Separated metal scrap that is still a coded solid waste and isn't a battery part, casing or core.
119Separated liquid electrolyte that is mainly inorganic, when no more specific inorganic-liquid form fits.

Battery chemistry, condition and destination can change the reclamation or universal-waste route. They don't change what 309 describes.
