Which solvent wipes have an exclusion in Texas?
Solvent-contaminated wipes have a conditional exclusion.
Keep them in closed, nonleaking containers labeled Excluded Solvent-Contaminated Wipes for no more than 180 days.
They must have no free liquids when sent.
Keep records of the destination, time limit and liquid-removal process.
For reuse, send them to a qualifying Clean Water Act-regulated laundry or dry cleaner.
For disposal, use a qualifying landfill or combustor.
The disposal exclusion doesn't cover trichloroethylene-contaminated wipes.
Wipes don't qualify if they hold other listed hazardous waste or have a hazardous characteristic from a non-solvent contaminant.
Manage removed liquids separately.
Ordinary oily rags don't qualify automatically.
Which checks apply to ordinary oily absorbents in Texas?
Use petroleum classification for petroleum contamination and paint-related eligibility for paint residues.
Keep liquid that drains from the absorbent in its own waste stream.
For the paperwork, see Code, class and shipment records.
