Which Texas antifreeze route fits the source?

Household antifreeze can go to a local household collection or to a batteries, oil, paint and antifreeze (BOPA) collection or recycling route.

Business antifreeze needs a hazardous-waste determination, especially after solvent mixing or when it holds metals or has high pH.

Recycling alone doesn't create an exemption.

Class 1, 2 and 3 don't cover nonhazardous antifreeze from a nonindustrial repair shop.

Sewer disposal needs written approval from the treatment plant.

A form code doesn't give that approval.

What changes a Texas antifreeze determination?

Record the coolant formula and any contamination from use, including petroleum and metals.

Keep coolant apart from used oil and other liquids, and use petroleum classification where it applies.
