Where does Texas form code 308 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, then the 3-digit form 308, then a class character. Form 308 describes the stream in the inorganic solids category. It says nothing about hazard. The class character depends on what the stream is made of, where it came from and its properties.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class. Work through the exclusions, then the federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then the Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are nonhazardous industrial classes. Process knowledge or testing backs the class. Choosing a form doesn't set it.
What does Texas form code 308 cover?
Metal packaging, including drums, thrown away empty or after crushing. The metal separates it from the glass, fiber and plastic forms. Empty is a legal condition. The former contents, container size and leftover residue all affect how the container is judged.

Is an empty metal drum Texas form code 308, 388 or 406?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 308 | Metal container that meets the empty-container conditions or has been crushed. |
| 388 | Empty or crushed glass container. |
| 406 | Empty fiber or plastic container. |
Crushing doesn't settle hazardous residue or Texas class. Check the empty-container conditions, including the former contents and residue removal, before assuming Class 2 or 3. Classify separately collected product or residue as its own stream.
