When to use 006
Which form fits airbag modules and inflators?
| Form | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 006 | Airbag modules or inflators managed as hazardous waste after checking the handler exemption. |
Which conditions do airbag handlers have to meet?
An airbag waste handler can use the conditional exemption in 30 TAC 335.281. Hold no more than 250 modules or inflators for no more than 180 days, in suitable containers labeled Airbag Waste-Do Not Reuse.
Send them straight to a manufacturer-controlled recall collection facility or an authorized designated facility. Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) transport rules and keep shipment and receipt records for 3 years.
Full hazardous-waste rules apply at the receiving facility on receipt, and to a handler who fails any condition. Only then use ordinary hazardous form 006 where it fits.
Why is form 006 missing from some instructions?
Read the form 006 instructions gap before a submission that offers no matching airbag entry.
