Alberta Uniform Waste Code category.
Is Alberta 131 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. Alberta 131 is an industrial category for neutralized heavy-metal waste. A waste is hazardous only when it has a Schedule 1 property or listing and no Schedule 2 exclusion applies. The code number proves neither.
For regulated hazardous waste sent for disposal, the consignor enters the waste details on the Alberta hazardous waste manifest. Alberta’s exclusions and shipment rules apply as well.
What does Alberta 131 cover?
Neutralized heavy-metal liquids, sludges and residues. The category is the material or process part of the Uniform Waste Code. Transport identification, transport class and the management operation are separate parts. The industrial identification guide describes the category, and the Waste Control Regulation decides hazardous status and exclusions.
