404, Spent carbon.
Organic solids
Spent carbon
Spent carbon in nonpumpable solid form.
Where does Texas form code 404 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, the 3-digit form 404 and a final class character. Form 404 puts the stream in the organic solids category.
The form doesn't give a hazard status. The stream's makeup, source and properties decide the class character.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes alongside it. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class from exclusions, federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are the nonhazardous industrial classes. Testing or process knowledge supports that call, and picking a form doesn't set the class.
What does Texas form code 404 cover?
Spent carbon discarded as a solid that won't pump, in the organic solids category. The form is for carbon. Other spent inorganic filters and adsorbents have their own form.

Is spent filter material always Texas form code 404?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 404 | The waste is spent carbon discarded as an organic solid that won't pump. |
| 310 | The spent filter or adsorbent is a mainly inorganic solid that won't pump, not carbon. |
Record the carbon medium, what it treated or adsorbed, and its physical form at discard.
Which wastes take Texas form code 404?
| Waste | When it’s 404 |
|---|---|
| Spent activated carbon | The solid adsorbent is spent carbon. |
