Organic solids
PCB organic solids, 500 ppm or more
Organic solid with at least 500 ppm PCBs.
Where does Texas form code 495 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, the 3-digit form 495 and a final class character. Form 495 puts the stream in the organic solids category.
These PCB bands don't replace the hazardous-waste determination. If the waste isn't RCRA hazardous, industrial waste with at least 50 ppm PCBs is Class 1.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes alongside it. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class from exclusions, federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are the nonhazardous industrial classes. Testing or process knowledge supports that call, and picking a form doesn't set the class.
What does Texas form code 495 cover?
Mostly organic solid waste that won't pump, with PCBs at 500 ppm or more. Soil and electrical equipment have their own forms, and the wording doesn't expressly keep them out of this general solid form.

Is a high-PCB organic solid Texas form code 495?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 495 | The organic solid has PCBs at 500 ppm or more. |
| 494 | The organic solid has PCBs at 50 to under 500 ppm. |
| 497 | The organic electrical equipment has PCBs at 500 ppm or more. |
| 499 | The organic soil has PCBs at 500 ppm or more. |
Record the material, its organic makeup and the PCB concentration. The form digits don't encode the class. For nonhazardous industrial waste, PCBs at 50 ppm or more make it Class 1.
