PCB, PCN, PCT or PBB material

National reporting M100: PCB, PCN and PCT are polychlorinated biphenyls, naphthalenes and terphenyls; PBB is polybrominated biphenyl.

Waste containing or contaminated with PCBs, PCNs, PCTs or PBBs, such as old transformer oil. A national reporting category.

Is National M100 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. M100 is a DCCEEW reporting category that groups waste data nationally. It doesn't make every material with this description hazardous. State and territory rules decide the classification, exclusions and movement duties for a real load.

Enter M100 in the national waste-data category field when reporting under that standard. It isn't a transport certificate. A movement needs the code and record accepted where it starts, plus any required destination consignment authorisation for an interstate controlled load. Apply separate interstate movement controls, because a reporting code gives no state movement classification.

What does National M100 cover?

Discarded substances and articles that contain or are contaminated with PCB, PCN, PCT or PBB compounds go here. Contaminated items fall here as well as items that contain them.

Is PCB, PCN, PCT or PBB waste National M100?

CodeWhen it fits
M100The waste contains or is contaminated with a listed PCB, PCN, PCT or PBB compound.

These examples show the national category only. A state may use a different code, threshold or facility permission, so use that state's list before preparing transport paperwork.

Which wastes take National M100?

WasteWhen it’s M100
PCB-contaminated wasteAnalysis confirms PCB contamination on the list.
PCN-containing wasteAnalysis confirms PCN in the combined PCB, PCN, PCT and PBB entry.
PCT-containing wasteAnalysis confirms PCT in the combined PCB, PCN, PCT and PBB entry.
PBB-containing wasteAnalysis confirms PBB in the combined PCB, PCN, PCT and PBB entry.
