J100 covers waste mineral oil no longer fit for its original use, in the national list and the ACT, NSW, NT, Queensland & SA lists.

Which code covers waste oil rather than oily water?

Read the J100 and J120 entries for the state. The lists separate waste oil from oil-and-water mixtures or emulsions. Interceptor waste, oil filters and tarry residues have their own entries where listed.

What if the oil contains PCBs?

The PCB entries depend on concentration and can take the waste outside the ordinary oil description. Victoria separates M100 and M120 by PCB concentration. Get composition evidence for old transformer fluids, and don’t assume the oil entry applies.

Which exclusions or special routes apply to used oil waste codes?

South Australia. South Australia’s household chemical depots accept household engine oil and other oils.

Australian Capital Territory. Small quantities of unwanted household automotive products can go through the household hazardous-waste route where accepted. Commercial liquid waste normally needs an interstate treatment or disposal route.

Northern Territory. Darwin’s Shoal Bay household route accepts oil but not commercial oil.

The shared classification and movement limits for used oil waste codes are on the Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory pages.
