How are whole tyres and tyre pieces coded in Victoria?
T140 is for tyres and pieces over 250 millimetres in any dimension. T141 is for pieces under 250 millimetres. Record the size against the full entry, and don't round a piece at the boundary into the other group.
Does reportable priority tyre waste need a permitted vehicle?
Victoria separates reportable transactions from reportable transport. EPA makes tyres an exception to the transport duty, but the transaction duty stays. Other states have their own tyre tracking and transport rules.
Are there special tyre rules in NSW, Tasmania or the Northern Territory?
New South Wales. In NSW, cl 76 reporting applies at 200 kg or more, or 20 tyres or more, per load. Below both thresholds it doesn't apply, but interstate Part 4 duties still need a separate check. Use IWTS, not the retired business WasteLocate route. NSW's published resource recovery provisions include an order and an exemption for tyres.
Tasmania. Waste tyres can be stored and reused under Tasmania's approved management method if every condition is met. A stockpile of more than 100 tonnes is a Level 2 activity, so EPA assesses and regulates it. The method doesn't allow final disposal.
Northern Territory. The local facility decides which household tyres it accepts. Commercial or fee-for-service transport and handling of listed waste needs the licensed route.
Shared classification and movement limits for waste tyres are on the Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory pages.
What should I record before a tyre load leaves?
Record the weight and tyre count where NSW reporting might apply. Elsewhere, check the state's storage, reuse and movement route before dispatch.
