  • Victoria

Other sludge, slurry and drilling mud

Victoria: Assessment finds the drilling mud or slurry non-hazardous.

    When to use T130-NH
Victoria splits it into T130-H when assessment finds it hazardous & T130-NH when it is not. The NT uses Z130.

Which drilling mud code should a Victorian site use?

T130-H and T130-NH are separate entries. The hazardous entry covers slurry or sludge containing hazardous substances, and the other excludes it. A hydrovac load is not automatically fill material just because it was dug out of the ground.

What decides between T130-H and T130-NH?

Use the waste’s origin and composition with the Waste classification assessment protocol. EPA gives drilling mud contaminated with hydraulic fluid as an example of hazardous mud. The mirror suffix records the result of that assessment.

Which exclusions or special routes apply to drilling mud waste codes?

New South Wales. NSW’s published resource recovery provisions include an order and an exemption for treated drilling mud.

The shared classification and movement limits for drilling mud waste codes are on the Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory pages.

What do you do next with drilling mud waste codes?

For drilling mud, record the process and contaminants, settle any hazardous mirror entry, and use a treatment or reuse route approved for the resulting slurry.
