Which waste code list applies in Victoria?
Victoria has ordinary industrial material codes as well as controlled constituents. Its 4 mirror pairs keep the -H or -NH suffix. Check the priority, reportable-transaction and reportable-transport duties separately.
How do waste classification and tracking differ in Victoria?
Choose the Schedule 5 description, then use the classification assessment protocol for a mirror code. Soil and priority waste going to landfill may also need a disposal category. Waste Tracker is for the reportable transaction, not for every industrial code. Industrial-waste codes cover business and industry, including contractor waste. A homeowner moving their own domestic waste uses the household receiving route. A current waste designation takes precedence over Schedule 5. Only reportable priority waste transactions need Waste Tracker. Ordinary industrial and non-reportable priority waste still need a lawful receiver.
Which Victoria materials have their own route?
Material-specific routes for Victoria are on the Asbestos waste, Battery waste, Fill material and excavated spoil and Treated timber pages.
Applies to Bricks, Concrete, Rubble and foundry sand. The recycled aggregates determination allows qualifying recycled aggregates to be received, but only under its conditions. It doesn't remove the separate permissions to store or process waste, and it doesn't make contaminated masonry ordinary aggregate.
Applies to Contaminated drums and containers, Glue waste, Paint waste, Resin waste. Paintback designation 04 of 2021 (Gazette S308) makes qualifying architectural and decorative paint and packaging priority waste, not reportable priority waste, on delivery to and storage at a contracted consolidation site. Delivery must be unpaid, up to 200 litres per delivery, in containers of 20 litres or less. All scheme conditions apply. The designation stops when paint leaves consolidation for another premises. It doesn't cover lead-paint stripping debris just because the debris contains paint.
Applies to Garden and landscaping organics, Manure and animal bedding, Processed organic waste. A current livestock manure or effluent determination, or a processed organics determination, can allow a receiving use when the waste and all conditions qualify. A determination doesn't automatically exempt storage or processing from permissions.
What record do I keep after classifying waste in Victoria?
For a Victorian reportable transaction, prepare the waste description, code, quantity, producer, transporter and receiver, then complete Waste Tracker. A priority-waste label alone doesn't create that transaction duty.
