Oil-and-water mixtures
Victoria J120: use for an emulsion or mixture of water with oil or another hydrocarbon.
Is Victoria J120 priority waste?
Yes. J120 is pre-classified priority waste, so no mirror assessment decides its Schedule 5 status. Transactions and transport are both reportable.
Where the duty applies, enter J120 as the Schedule 5 waste code in the Waste Tracker record. The tracking exceptions and designation and household rules still apply.
What does Victoria J120 cover?
Waste oil mixed or emulsified with water falls here, and so do mixtures of water and other hydrocarbons. Water in the mixture sets it apart from a waste-oil entry that names no water.

Is oil and water mixture waste Victoria J120 or J100?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| J120 | Oil or another hydrocarbon is mixed or emulsified with water. |
| J100 | The load is waste oil or another hydrocarbon liquid, and J100 also includes emulsions. |
J120 names water mixtures and emulsions, but J100 includes emulsions too. Confirm which code the receiver accepts when both fit.
What does a Victoria J120 load need before it moves?
For a reportable transaction, the producer creates the Waste Tracker record before dispatch. A transporter or accredited consigner can do it for the producer, who stays accountable and keeps a copy. Arrange the transporter and receiving site first.
Record the code, an accurate description, form, amount, packages, treatment, industry, dispatch date and the parties involved. Add dangerous goods details where they apply. The driver records collection and delivery, and the receiver records receipt. Priority waste sent to landfill, and soil that is priority waste, also need the disposal category that applies.
