Waste mineral oil
WA category J100; load type and road-transport rules decide whether a tracking form follows.
Is WA J100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. J100 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter J100 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA J100 cover?
Waste mineral oil falls here when it is no longer fit for its original purpose. The code is for the oil itself. Oil-and-water mixtures and emulsions are described separately under J120.

Is waste mineral oil WA J100 or J120?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| J100 | The mineral oil is waste and no longer fit for its original use. |
| J120 | The oil or hydrocarbon is mixed or emulsified with water. |
Landfill acceptance depends on the landfill criteria, not on how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods class answer different questions.
