D012, Endrin.
Characteristic hazardous waste
Endrin
Endrin at 0.02 mg/L or more in the TCLP extract.
Is D012 hazardous waste?
Yes. Waste is D012 when the TCLP extract of a representative sample holds endrin at or above 0.02 mg/L. That makes it toxic hazardous waste, whatever industry or process it came from.
Compare the endrin in the TCLP extract with 0.02 mg/L. A total endrin result is a different measure, so it can't be compared with this limit.
D012 is a nonacute characteristic. On a required hazardous waste manifest, put D012 in Item 13. See VSQG exemptions and empty-container rules.
What does D012 cover?
D012 applies when a representative sample gives a TCLP extract with endrin at or above 0.02 mg/L. The limit is for the extract, not the waste’s total endrin.

Is endrin waste always D012?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| D012 | The TCLP extract of a representative sample holds endrin at or above 0.02 mg/L. |
| D004–D043 | The endrin result is below 0.02 mg/L, but another contaminant or characteristic can still apply. |
| P051 | Unused endrin is thrown away pure, as technical grade, or as the product’s only active ingredient. |
Generators decide the codes from testing or knowledge of the waste, under 40 CFR 262.11. A result below 0.02 mg/L rules out D012 only. It doesn't make the waste nonhazardous.
Which wastes take D012?
| Waste | When it’s D012 |
|---|---|
| Contaminated soil | Its endrin leaches at the TCLP limit or above. |
| Waste pesticides | Its endrin leaches at the TCLP limit or above. |
Which codes sit beside D012?
| Code | What it is |

| D008 | Lead |
| D009 | Mercury |
| D010 | Selenium |
| D011 | Silver |
| D013 | Lindane |
| D014 | Methoxychlor |
| D015 | Toxaphene |
| D016 | 2,4-D |
