Organic liquids
Oil-water mixture
Liquid oil-water emulsion or mixture.
Where does Texas form code 205 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, then the 3-digit form 205, then a class character. Form 205 describes a stream in the organic liquids category.
The form doesn't give a hazard status. The stream's makeup, source and properties decide the class character after it.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment on a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Put any EPA waste codes beside it. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class from exclusions, federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous, and 1, 2 and 3 are nonhazardous industrial classes. Process knowledge or testing backs the decision. Picking a form doesn't set the class.
What does Texas form code 205 cover?
A liquid waste of oil and water, including an emulsion. Both are part of the stream, and oil alone has another form. Oily material thick enough to be a pumpable sludge is a different form too.

Is oily water Texas form code 205 or 206?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 205 | The liquid is an oil-water mixture or emulsion. |
| 206 | The stream is waste oil, not an oil-water mixture, and is outside the used-oil route. |
| 603 | The material is a pumpable oily sludge, not a liquid. |
An emulsion need not show separate visible layers. Work out the composition and consistency, then check the used-oil management conditions. The form alone doesn't decide whether they apply.
Which wastes take Texas form code 205?
| Waste | When it’s 205 |
|---|---|
| Used oil and waste oil | Oil-water emulsion or mixture. |
| Oil-water separator liquid | An oil-water emulsion or mixture. |
| Oily water | The pumpable waste holds both oil and water. Separated waste oil uses 206. |
| Spent cutting oil or metalworking fluid | The fluid is an oil-water emulsion or mixture. |
