302, Soil contaminated with inorganics only.
Inorganic solids
Soil contaminated with inorganics only
Non-pumpable soil contaminated only with inorganic substances; check soil exclusions.
Where does Texas form code 302 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, then the 3-digit form 302, then a class character. Form 302 describes the stream in the inorganic solids category. It says nothing about hazard. The class character depends on what the stream is made of, where it came from and its properties.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class. Work through the exclusions, then the federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then the Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are nonhazardous industrial classes. Process knowledge or testing backs the class. Choosing a form doesn't set it.
What does Texas form code 302 cover?
Soil in solid, nonpumpable form where every contaminant is inorganic, such as metals or salts. There can be several inorganic contaminants. If any organic contamination is present, the soil is not this form.

Is contaminated soil Texas form code 302 or 301?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 302 | Nonpumpable soil with inorganic contaminants only. |
| 301 | Soil with organic contamination, with or without inorganic contaminants. |
Find the contaminants by process knowledge or analysis. Saying the soil is clean, or naming an inorganic contaminant, doesn't make it Class 3. Check the soil exclusions and classification conditions on their own, apart from the form.
Which wastes take Texas form code 302?
| Waste | When it’s 302 |
|---|---|
| Contaminated soil | Nonpumpable soil with inorganic contaminants only. |
| Metal-contaminated soil | Soil contaminated only with inorganic material such as metals. |
Which codes sit beside Texas form code 302?
| Code | What it is |
|---|---|
| 303 | Waste-incineration ash, slag or residue |
| 304 | Other dry ash, slag or thermal residue |
| 305 | Fixed dry lime or metal hydroxide solids |
| 306 | Unfixed dry lime or metal hydroxide solids |
| 307 | Metal scale, filings or scrap |
| 308 | Empty or crushed metal containers |
| 309 | Batteries, parts, casings or cores |
| 310 | Spent solid filters or adsorbents |
