    Metal and plastic surface-treatment waste

National reporting A100: surface treatment is the source; compare heat-treatment cyanide waste under A110.

National reporting waste from finishing metal & plastic parts. Heat-treatment waste with cyanides goes under A110.

Is National A100 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. This is a DCCEEW hazardous-waste reporting category that groups data nationally. It doesn't make every material with the description hazardous. State and territory rules decide the classification, exclusions and movement duties for an actual load.

Use A100 in the national waste-data category field when reporting under that standard. It is not a national transport certificate. A movement needs the accepted code and record of the state or territory of origin, plus any destination consignment authorisation for an interstate controlled load.

For national reporting, enter A100 in the national waste-data category field. A reporting code gives no state movement classification, so apply the separate interstate movement controls.

What does National A100 cover?

Waste from operations that treat metal or plastic surfaces. The category follows the process that produced the waste, not a particular metal, plastic or treatment chemical.

Is metal and plastic surface-treatment waste always National A100?

CodeWhen it fits
A100The waste arose directly from surface treatment of metal or plastic.
A110The waste comes from cyanide heat treatment or tempering rather than metal or plastic surface treatment.

National examples illustrate the reporting category. They don't set a state's code, classification threshold or receiving-facility permission. Choose the state list before preparing transport paperwork.
