National reporting
Alkaline liquids and solid alkalis
National reporting C100: the material may be an alkaline liquid or an alkali in solid form.
Is National C100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. C100 is a DCCEEW hazardous-waste reporting category that groups data nationally. It doesn't make every material with this description hazardous. State and territory rules decide the classification, exclusions and movement duties for a load.
Use C100 in the national waste-data category field when reporting under that standard. It isn't a national transport certificate. A movement needs the origin state or territory's accepted code and record, plus any destination consignment authorisation for an interstate controlled load. Apply separate interstate movement controls. A reporting code gives no state movement classification.
What does National C100 cover?
Alkaline solutions and solid alkalis fall here. The national entry sets no pH limit. Victoria has its own pair of C100 entries, with a stated threshold and examples.

Is alkaline waste National C100 or B100?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| C100 | The waste is an alkaline solution or an alkali in solid form. |
| B100 | The waste is acidic or a solid acid rather than alkaline. |
National examples show the reporting category only. They don't set a state's code, classification threshold or whether a facility can receive the waste. Use your state's list before preparing transport paperwork.
