Tasmania
Fixed, solidified or encapsulated waste
Tasmania N160: treatment by encapsulation, chemical fixing, solidification or polymerisation does not erase the waste category.
Is Tasmania N160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For national-list categories, Tasmania also needs a listed hazardous characteristic, which is presumed unless shown otherwise. Tasmania adds some controlled wastes of its own, so read the category and the local rules together.
Put N160 with the specific waste description in the controlled-waste consignment documentation. Record the producer, quantity, form, contaminants, registered transporter and receiver. The Tasmanian handling and transport rules apply. An incoming interstate controlled load needs EPA Tasmania's consignment authorisation, and another state's certificate doesn't give the receiving facility that.
What does Tasmania N160 cover?
Waste that has been encapsulated, chemically fixed, solidified or polymerised is still waste on Tasmania's list. The treatment doesn't take it out of its description.
