Nonhazardous inorganic sandblasting waste
Nonhazardous nonpumpable sandblasting waste that is mainly inorganic.
Where does Texas form code 389 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, then the 3-digit form 389, then a class character. Form 389 describes the stream in the inorganic solids category. The waste must be shown to be nonhazardous before this form fits. The industrial Class 1, 2 or 3 is decided separately. The class character depends on what the stream is made of, where it came from and its properties.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class. Work through the exclusions, then the federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then the Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are nonhazardous industrial classes. Process knowledge or testing backs the class. Choosing a form doesn't set it.
What does Texas form code 389 cover?
Spent blasting media and the material it removed, when the waste is nonhazardous and mainly inorganic. Sandblasting alone isn't enough. If the removed material makes the waste mainly organic, it takes a different form.
