NT 2013 table entry D120; confirm that the current system still accepts it before use.
Is NT D120 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. This is an administrative waste code, not the current statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally covers commercial activity or services for a fee. The waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. Its waste-code field takes the accepted administrative code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.
For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in the Waste Transfer Certificate's waste-code field. Check NT code currency and movement rules.
What does NT D120 cover?
Elemental mercury and mercury compounds. The code covers the element as well as its compounds, whatever the compound or process.
