Sewage sludge and residue
Northern Territory K130: this is a sewage-sludge stream, rather than food-processing liquid or grease-trap pump-out.
Is NT K130 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. The code is an administrative description, not the statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally covers commercial work or services done for a fee. So the waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. The certificate's waste-code field takes the accepted code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.
For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in the certificate's waste-code field. Then check the NT code currency and movement rules.
What does NT K130 cover?
Sewage sludge and residue go here. The Queensland and Tasmanian descriptions also take nightsoil and sludge from septic tanks or on-site wastewater systems, which reaches beyond mains sewerage.

Is sewage sludge always NT K130?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| K130 | The waste is sewage sludge, sewage residue or sludge from a listed on-site wastewater system. |
The older table helps you recognise a description. It doesn't show that the portal accepts the code today, or what an operator's licence now says. Get the movement approval before dispatch.
