M170, Polychlorinated dibenzofurans.
Northern Territory
Polychlorinated dibenzofurans
Northern Territory M170: A congener is one chemical variant in the dibenzofuran group; any variant is included.
Is NT M170 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. The code is an administrative description, not the statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally covers commercial work or services done for a fee. So the waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. The certificate's waste-code field takes the accepted code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.
For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in the certificate's waste-code field. Then check the NT code currency and movement rules.
What does NT M170 cover?
Polychlorinated dibenzofurans of any congener. It takes every chemical variant in the dibenzofuran group, not a named few.

The older table helps you recognise a description. It doesn't show that the portal accepts the code today, or what an operator's licence now says. Get the movement approval before dispatch.
