M230, Triethylamine foundry-sand catalyst.
Northern Territory
Triethylamine foundry-sand catalyst
Northern Territory M230: triethylamine is the catalyst used to harden sand moulds in foundries.
Is NT M230 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. The code is an administrative description, not the statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally covers commercial work or services done for a fee. So the waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. The certificate's waste-code field takes the accepted code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.
For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in the certificate's waste-code field. Then check the NT code currency and movement rules.
What does NT M230 cover?
Triethylamine catalysts used to set sand in foundries. Both the substance and the process matter, because the triethylamine must have set foundry sand.
