Northern Territory
Surfactants and detergents
Northern Territory M250: surfactants reduce surface tension; check whether the entry requires mainly organic constituents.
Is NT M250 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. The code is an administrative description, not the statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally covers commercial work or services done for a fee. So the waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. The certificate's waste-code field takes the accepted code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.
For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in the certificate's waste-code field. Then check the NT code currency and movement rules.
What does NT M250 cover?
Surfactants made up mainly of organic constituents. The main constituents are organic, though the material may also hold metals or inorganic constituents.
