Research, laboratory and teaching chemicals
Northern Territory T100: new, unidentified or effects-unknown chemicals from research or teaching can fall here.
Is NT T100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. The code is an administrative description, not the current statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally concerns commercial activity or services done for a fee. The waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. Enter the accepted administrative code, with a description, in the certificate's waste-code field, and check the NT code currency and movement rules. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.
What does NT T100 cover?
Discarded material from research, development or teaching work. The source activity decides it, and the wording also takes new, unidentified or unknown-effect chemicals.

The older table helps identify a description. It doesn't show what the portal accepts today or what an operator's licence allows, so get the movement approval before dispatch.
