Western Australia
Fixed, solidified or encapsulated waste
Western Australia N160: treatment by encapsulation, chemical fixing, solidification or polymerisation does not erase the waste category.
Is WA N160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. N160 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste that a Class I, II or III landfill can lawfully accept is excluded, with exceptions such as asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter N160 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. The WA load thresholds and exclusions set which loads are tracked.
What does WA N160 cover?
Controlled waste that has been encapsulated, chemically fixed, solidified or polymerised. Treating it this way doesn't take it off Western Australia’s list.
