Contaminated soil
Western Australia N120: identify the controlled waste or other contaminant that makes the soil fit this entry.
Is WA N120 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. N120 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste that a Class I, II or III landfill can lawfully accept is excluded, with exceptions such as asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter N120 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. The WA load thresholds and exclusions set which loads are tracked.
What does WA N120 cover?
Soil contaminated by controlled waste. The contaminant must be controlled waste or another substance on Western Australia’s list.
